在上周五结束的成都七中国际部2013级毕业典礼上，成都七中校长刘国伟老师向国际部高三年级全体老师、学生以及家长发表了精彩的演讲。高三（1）班的张珺宸同学为刘校长的演讲进行了英文翻译。演讲全文如下：

尊敬的各位来宾、各位家长、老师们、同学们，下午好!

Dear students, teachers, distinguished guests and parents, good afternoon.

首先，向国际高中2013级全体同学表示祝贺，祝贺你们顺利结束了高中课程，并成功获得海外大学的录取，我代表学校向你们表示祝福。其次，我想感谢国际部100多位中外籍教职员工，感谢你们陪伴、引导、教育116位学生走过整整三年；同时也感谢成都七中国际部合作方——康德集团成都楷博教育，感谢美国、英国的合作伙伴，美国国际教育委员会，英国北方大学联合会。当然还有我们的家长们，希望全体毕业生以最热烈的掌声向你们的父母表示感谢，没有他们对你们无私的养育和奉献，你们今天不可能有赴海外学习的大好机会。

First of all, I would like to give my warmest congratulations to all the graduates on your successful completion of the high school and the admission into overseas colleges and universities. Secondly I want to give my appreciation and thanks to the faculty of international department both local and expatriate teachers for your dedication, devotion and education to our students during the past three years. Meanwhile, I want to thank Cogdel Group, NCUK, the College Board and all the partners of the international department. Finally, I would like to give the warmest applause to all the parents who contribute greatly to the every success of the students and the school.

同学们，毕业意味着高中时代的结束，意味着你们已成人。走出你的家门，你代表你的家族；走出七中的校门，你代表七中；走出国门，你代表中国。我希望这个时候你感觉到责任，意识到做一个大写的“人”需要面临挑战，还要具备勇气、毅力与智慧。作为你们的师长，我想向你们提出几点希望。

My dear students, today’s graduation means the end of your high school life and also the beginning of your adulthood. When you step out of your house, you represent a family and when you step out of Chengdu No.7 High School, you represent the school and likely wise when you go abroad, you will represent China, your mother country. It is expected that you can feel the responsibilities, and further realize the challenges and expectations to be a Chinese, which requires courage, wisdom and persistence. As principal and teacher, here I would like to share the following with you.

一是希望大家保持时时进取之心

Firstly, keep on working.

走出中国的校门，你们将踏上世界的舞台，未来的学习任务和挑战都比现在更多、更大。我想跟同学们说的是，要受得住磨练。你若想放弃，会找到一个或无数个借口；你若想坚持，也会找到一个或无数个办法。作为母校，总希望你们在人生的道路上多一些平坦，少一些坎坷，但是人生既会有成功和机遇，也总会有挫折和阻碍。只有自强不息，我们才能冲破阻碍，在挫折中奋起，在历练中成才！一个人在什么时候会被社会推上重要位置，带有一定的偶然性，但是在脚踏实地、勤奋学习的人群中更能产生优秀人才，这却是历史的必然。希望多年以后你们能够成为优秀的人才，成为母校的荣耀，成为后来者的榜样！

You are going to a global stage after you leave the school. You’ll encounter tasks and challenges. If you want to give up, you can easily find thousands of excuses. But, if you want to hold on, you can also find many solutions. As your school, we hope you have smooth lives rather than struggling ones. However, we have success and opportunities. At the same time, we have setback and obstruction. Only when we constantly strive to become stronger can we break the barriers, rise from the setback and become somebody in the experiences. It can be occasional that one person may succeed in his or her career. However, I believe the excellence comes from diligent study and hard work, which has been proved again and again in human’s history. It is expected that you will grow to such excellent people and the school will be proud of you and you will be example for your fellow students.

二是希望大家永远胸怀理想。

Secondly, always hold your dreams.

没有梦想的人是可怕的，没有梦想的人生如同死水一潭。反之，有梦想的人永远值得尊敬。踏踏实实虽然很实际，但是在此基础上我还是希望大家能够朝梦想前进，培养战略的眼光，站得高一些，看得远一些。未来你们就可以在不断努力拼搏的过程中自然地实现自我，靠自己的自强不息，靠自己的努力和拼搏，活出自己的人生。

A man without dream is a dead man but a man with dreams is respectable. It is important to be steady, but I hope you develop your strategic vision and stick to your dream. In that way, you will realize your self-value, and live your own life by your strength, your efforts and your hard-working.

三是希望大家常怀感恩之心。

Thirdly, always feel appreciated.

我希望看到你们学有所成，但更希望看到你们真正成为一个有道德、有素质、有感恩之心的好公民。心系感恩，时时刻刻不忘本。“此去须怀报国志，不忘春风化雨情”，希望你们能有这样的豪情和深情，做到心系祖国，志存高远，饮水思源，感恩父母。跨出国门后，无论身处何方，都要始终热爱自己的国家，维护自己国家的形象，同时也不忘时常联系自己的家人、朋友和老师。在今后的人生旅途上，学校永远是你们的坚强后盾，是你们永远的精神家园，欢迎你们常回家看看！

I hope that you can achieve greatly in the future. Furthermore, I expect that you can be a citizen of high virtue and being grateful. If you are grateful for everything you have, you will hold true and strong love for those who bring these things to you. I hope that you will always keep such love in mind, a love for your parents and love for your motherland wherever and whenever you are. You have the responsibility for the image of your motherland and you should always be proud to be a Chinese. You are also expected to stay close touch with your family, friends and teachers. Please keep this mind that our school will back up you all the time and the school is always open for you and please come back frequently and share your success with us.

最后是希望同学们加强联系和交流。

Finally, always touch and communication with each other.

相互学习，相互借鉴，相互支持，相互帮助，使同学们更早融入世界，更好融入世界，更有能力、有水平参与国际化事务。

Finally, I advise that you will stay strong and frequent touch and communication with each other. You will learn and support each other to make you integrate into the current world and engage yourself in the international affairs with competence and abilities required.

同学们，从今天开始，你们站在了人生一个崭新的起点上。愿你们满怀豪情投身到自己的明天中去！也请记住，你们“也许会走得很久很远，但一生，也走不出母校的注视”。

Dear students, from today you are at a new starting point of your life. Wish you a bright and promising future with your devotion and efforts. However, please also be noted that however long and far you may travel, you will be watched and cared by your school in your whole life.

同学们，在你们即将启程远航之际，我衷心地祝你们前程似锦，事业有成。祝同学们拥有一个优雅、幸福、有尊严的人生！

At last, I would like to wish everybody a good future, a happy life and a life of dignity.
